IMMERSIVE, PERSONALIZED CURRICULUM
AN ONLINE LEARNING REVOLUTION
ABOUT THE ONLINE ACADEMY
+ WHO IS IT FOR?
Links' Online Academy is designed for students who need a flexible, customized, accredited school option. Our online student body includes:
- Students on an extended leave from school.
- Students on medical leave or homebound instruction.
- Elite student athletes & performers.
- Students who want an individualized, student-centered alternative to traditional schools.
- Students who need to earn credit in a course their home school does not offer.
+ WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM?
Our Online Academy utilizes a mastery-based, personalized, immersive curriculum. Courses are aligned with state and national standards while offering rigorous, in-depth study of subject matter ranging from foundational to AP level. The curriculum is modified to meet each student’s goals and match each unique learning profile.
+ HOW IS CREDIT GRANTED?
Students enrolled in our Online Academy can receive credit directly through Links or through a collaborating school. High school students can take courses to earn a Links diploma or to add credits to their transcripts. Formal progress reports are provided quarterly.
Links is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), which means that our transcripts are recognized by both public and private high schools and universities worldwide. Links students have gone on to matriculate at a variety of selective secondary and postsecondary institutions.
+ WHAT IS THE CALENDAR & SCHEDULE?
Links' online programs are scheduled to meet each student's needs. Courses are offered 12 months a year, and the pace of study is determined by the student and the academic team. Live 1:1 class times are flexible and can be tailored to accommodate specific schedules.
+ WHAT IS THE CLASS FORMAT?
Our Online Academy is powered by Canvas, a cutting-edge educational platform that brings learning to life for our students. Multimedia resources, virtual labs, dynamic assessments, and video responses are integrated throughout our courses. Students can access the Online Academy on any computer, tablet, or smartphone. Although the format can vary depending on a student's goals, a typical course includes:
- 2 hours per week of live 1:1 instruction
- 3-5 hours per week of individualized coursework
- Weekly check-in with the student advisor
- Ongoing communication and feedback with the student advisor, teachers, and administrators
Accelerated courses follow a condensed timeline and may increase weekly class time to move through the curriculum more quickly.
+ WHO ARE THE TEACHERS?
Our Online Academy faculty spans our physical campus and our virtual campus. We seek out engaging, creative, inspirational teachers from around the globe who have the ability to connect with students one-on-one and help them achieve their goals. Students are paired with teachers based on subject area expertise, teaching styles, and personal "fit".
+ ARE ANY ELECTIVES OFFERED?
Yes. Course selection at Links is virtually limitless. Elective options include classes in visual arts, technology, creative writing, psychology, philosophy, forensic science, music, business, journalism, theater, art history, engineering, and more.
+ WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
All Online Academy students are assigned a student advisor who serves as the point person for their academic careers at Links. Our advisory program is designed to provide personal attention, track student progress, keep students motivated, and ensure that no one can slip through the cracks.
Family collaboration is also a vital component of our Online Academy programs. Parents are invited to communicate with the student advisor and education director to partner in their child's success. Our team specializes in working with home schools if a student is co-enrolled and supporting families with transitions once the program is complete.
+ ARE THERE ANY SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE?
Yes. Online Academy students can benefit from executive function coaching, life coaching, counseling, and specialized learning services. Support services are fully integrated into a student's program.
